A recent study published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology found that when teachers of school-aged children with autism received special training, their students showed improvements in social participation in the classroom. Teachers received three days of training in the new curriculum, as well as regular coaching, and were able to watch themselves on video in the classroom. Compared to control classrooms, students whose teachers received the training showed significant improvements in a range of communication, social, and active engagement skills.
