The National Fragile X Foundation reports that an “estimated 1.5 million people in the United States alone are impacted by Fragile X making it a leading inherited cause of intellectual disability today.” As such, creating a system of support and acceptance for those impacted is of great importance.

July 1st marked the beginning of National Fragile X Awareness Month, and the National Fragile X Foundation has sponsored a vast array of events that “work to raise awareness, educate, and bring together the community.” One such event, X-strides, is a nationwide event taking place in the virtual sphere to raise awareness and funds to support the mission of the National Fragile X Foundation. There are several different ways to get involved this year prior to closing ceremonies on July 31st. You can register a team with family and friends and work together to walk/run/bike in-person or virtually. Another way to get involved this year would be to sponsor a donation. Remember, “As Always… Together We Are Stronger.”! This year’s events will culminate July 31st so be sure to register and take part!
