Kritika Nayar, a 5th year doctoral student in the lab, presented her work at Northwestern University’s Seven Minutes of Scholarship on Wednesday, August 1st. She, among others, has spent the summer enrolled in the Ready Set Go program, which coaches graduate and post doctoral researchers to communicate their research clearly and concisely to a broad variety of audiences. Kritika, as the opening speaker, captivated the audience’s attention by presenting a visual illusion. She explained the importance of studying visual processes in autism, and how seeing the world differently may influence social interactions. Her work focuses on using multiple methods, including eye tracking and brain measures, with an additional component of studying parents to explore the genetics behind visual processing in autism. Kritika will be continuing this important research in her dissertation – stay tuned for more info!
