As the world continues to embrace technology, the medical industry is not shy in taking advantage of the latest technological gadgets. A historical problem within the medical field has always been access- access to a hospital, access to medication, access to competent care. A recently developed mobile application by Duke University utilizes eye-gaze tracking to evaluate what individuals are focusing on when viewing social stimuli videos. Based on whether the child is drawn more heavily to objects or people, the app will recommend if a visit to a specialist is necessary. By no means is this new technology a substitute for clinical visits, but it does offer a great deal of hope in making medicine more accessible to all. As this work is still currently being validated, the app is not open to the public just yet, but it does offer many positive signs for the future.
